Turns out the connection attempt from ADBLink2 prompted the popup on my TV screen (attached to the Shield Tube) allowing me to allow USB debugging exactly as described in the documentation. However I was 100% successful, and it took maybe 5 minutes total from zero to finished. I'd never side-loaded anything before so I was nervous. Finally got up the courage to look into installing uidroid.
